WHAT?!

So I see Alice bursting out of the doctor's office, waving a piece of paper, saying "LOOK! LOOK!" I tried to read what she was pointing out on her bloodwork results and listen to what she was saying at the same time, but I was unsuccessful at both. WHAT IS IT?

hCG, Beta Subunit, Qnt, Serum = 21 mIU/mL.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?! Next line:

Female (Non-pregnant): <10

Female (Pregnant): 1 D - 1 wk = 5 - 50 mIU/mL

Wait a minute, that means she's pregnant...

SHE'S PREGNANT!

The next thing I remember, we're racing out the door to the car, and I promptly forgot how to drive. We were supposed to pick up a pizza for dinner, but suddenly that became as simple as crossing the Alps. After a few minutes of calming down, we finally set out to get our first dinner as an expectant couple.

HOLY COW!

"I thought I had lupus!"

I had been really sick for two weeks, so my doc decided to run some bloodwork, warning me I may have something serious. I had Wright drive me to the doctor's to get the results, because I thought I was going to get bad news!

My doc came in to see me and said my bloodwork looked good. Then he took a second glance at the results and said, "Oh, you...might be...pregnant??" (I promptly felt the need to assure the doctor I'm married, since I have an allergy to rings and I don't wear a wedding band.) The doctor started going over my symptoms, getting more and more excited, and I started getting more and more excited. "I'd much rather be pregnant than have lupus!" Well, who wouldn't.

I went RUNNING out to the waiting room to tell Wright the good news.
